Suits you if
  • You want to ask in class and get answered on the spot.
  • You need set times and someone holding you to them.
  • You want to raise your score fast and you are ready for the workload that takes.
  • Your hours are irregular: shifts, travel, a job that eats evenings.
  • You can study on your own once you know exactly what to do that day.
  • You want to stop, replay and speed up a class instead of attending it once.

6.0 to 7.5

Reading, Overall 7.0

Whatever I did, reading always came out at 6.0. I did the error notebook and the paraphrasing words you gave us every single day, and before I knew it, it was 7.5. I'm so proud.

Like you said, reading is the score that just won't move. I sat this test when I was ready to give up, so I'm so relieved it came out like this. There were a lot of hard moments, but thanks to you I didn't give up and finished IELTS on a good note. Thank you so much!

6.0 to 7.5

Overall, after a year stuck

Before: Going from 6.0 to 7.0 isn't about studying harder. It's about knowing the scoring criteria exactly and training to it, and figuring that out alone was my limit.

After: After floundering on my own for a year, I finally reached 7.5. For areas you can't score yourself, like writing and speaking, there's no breaking the plateau without someone pointing things out every day.

5.0–5.5 to 7.5

Reading, Overall 7.0

My score is finally out! I sat the test on 13 April and got Overall 7.0: Listening 7.5, Reading 7.5, Writing 6.0, Speaking 6.0. It meets the requirement for my master's application exactly, and I can't tell you how relieved I am.

Picking up books again at my age is not easy. Plenty of days, after sending the kids to school, I sat at the dining table with my headset on and thought, what am I doing at my age? And why do words vanish the moment you turn around?

Still, you gave my writing a structure and drilled me in skimming and scanning for reading, and that got me here. Reading started in the 5s and went up to 7.5. I'm overwhelmed.

Listening, Reading 6.5 → 7.5

Hi! I'm a student from the two-month IELTS class last month. I sat the test and hit my target score, and since I read so many Instagram reviews myself, here's my proof.

Listening usually went back and forth between 7.0 and 7.5 for me. After your classes I kept studying steadily: the error notebook, studying the details, the stories from your own experience. I never thought I'd get a perfect score, but it came out well.

Reading was 6.5 forever, but two months of studying the efficient way with Lora got me a good result. Thank you! I'll send my speaking recall and review too.

5.5 to 6.5

Reading and Listening, Speaking 8.0, Overall 7.0

7.0, finally! Reading and listening were really weak for me and kept bouncing around 5.5, but this time I went in confident and finally got 6.5. I think it's because you kept answering everything I didn't understand in class and made sure my error notebook was done properly.

I barely studied writing. Your class made it click, and the topic was almost exactly the technology material you sent us, but I practised so little that I wrote some strange things in the exam. Speaking still came out at 8.0, so I'm finally done with IELTS, which I was so sick of. Thank you!

In case it helps the class: Part 2 was exactly the "a time you got lost" question from the past questions you gave us.

Reading and listening were the weak spotsKakaoTalk to Lora

5.0 to 6.5

Overall, in four weeks

Week 1: With writing and speaking I couldn't even tell if I was doing it right. On my own, I had no way to learn the scoring criteria.

Week 2: Speaking and writing were my focus areas, and those were exactly where I felt weak, so the analysis felt genuinely accurate.

Week 3: Repeating words like three, through, thousand, I could feel the shape of my mouth actually changing.

Week 4: On my own I'd never have even known this structure. I can honestly recommend it to anyone who, like me, can't finish on their own.

7.0

Overall, after a year stuck

My score just came out! Thanks to you I finally got 7.0, so now I can apply for my master's.

Because of IELTS I couldn't even apply when I got a master's offer last year, and studying for a whole extra year burned me out. 7.0 was my biggest mountain, and I'm so, so happy I got it. I'll definitely recommend Lora to my friends. Thank you!

What people ask most before they start

The questions we hear most before people enroll. Anything else, send it on KakaoTalk or through the contact page.

When are the classes?
LiveLive classes run on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, at times set for each cohort. Pick a start date and that cohort's days and times show with it.VODThe recordings open at midnight on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and stay open. Within a day, study whenever it suits you.
What if I miss a class or fall behind?
LiveEvery live class is recorded and posted to your dashboard, and your assignments for the week do not depend on attending live.VODWeeks keep opening on schedule. A week's work can be handed in until the end of the following week, and the last week's for 14 days after the course ends.
How much time does it take each day?
On weekdays your dashboard holds one or two short pieces of work for the day, plus the class on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The weekend mock takes about 2 hours 45 minutes under real IELTS timing, any time on Saturday or Sunday.
What level do I need to start?
The Band-Up Course is built for people preparing for Band 6.5 or 7.0 and above. If you are not sure where you stand, the free level test reports a band per skill in about 30 minutes. If it places you well below that range, English Fundamentals is the better start.
Academic or General Training?
The Band-Up Course runs on IELTS Academic by default. Need General Training? Ask us before you enroll.
How are my writing and speaking marked?

Reading and listening are scored the moment you submit, live or VOD.

LiveWriting and speaking come back with feedback per IELTS criterion after your teacher's review, so you always know why a piece scored what it did.VODWriting and speaking are marked automatically, usually within minutes, with feedback per IELTS criterion. No teacher reviews them again, so that is the final mark.
When do I sit the weekend mock?
It opens on Saturday and you can take it any time until Sunday 23:59: all four skills on the real test's screen and timing, 8 times over the course.
What is in the weekly report?
It compares this week's scores with last week's, skill by skill, and says what to work on next. It is on your dashboard and also arrives by email and KakaoTalk.
What device do I need?
Assignments and mocks run in the browser. A laptop or desktop with a microphone is best; reading and listening also work on a phone.
I live outside Korea. Which clock do you use?
Class times and deadlines are always shown in Korea time (KST). The next day's work opens at Seoul midnight or your local midnight, whichever comes first.
Can I start with one month instead of the full course?
Yes, live or VOD. The first four weeks are a complete block with their own question types and mocks, and once you pick a start date you can choose the full 8 weeks or the first month. We recommend the full 8 weeks.
What happens when the course ends?
For 14 days after your last week you can hand in remaining work and use your study material and recordings. Then everything on the program side closes together. Work handed in during those days gets the automatic mark only and does not go to a teacher.
